Meet The Team – Max King

This week, our “Meet The Team” feature puts the spotlight on one of our Improvers, Max King. We took some time to gain insight into what it’s like to work at Ergro and what Max gets up to in his spare time outside of Ergro.

You joined Ergro in 2020, how are you getting on?

“Since starting at Ergro I have completed 2 apprenticeships and have progressed significantly from my first couple days. I have also undertaken many courses to further widen my abilities in the M&E industry”

What’s the best part of your job?

“The best part of my job is the variety that comes with being on the projects team, one day you could be piping up a boiler and the next your installing new fans in an AHU.

We also have a great, well experienced projects team which makes doing the work even more enjoyable as you can have a laugh on site whilst learning from the best in the industry”

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

“Over the next 5 years I see myself progressing within the projects team and passing on my knowledge to our new apprentices, I also see myself learning more about the management of projects and completing courses for this step”

What made you choose to work Ergro?

“To be honest it was complete luck, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to specifically do but I knew I wanted to get my hands dirty I’m not built for an office job at all, I was set on getting an apprenticeship and I then stumbled upon a fabric apprenticeship with Ergro and have loved the ride ever since my interview”

What do you do in your spare time?

“Of recent spare time I have been decorating my first house with my girlfriend, my spare time is a lot smaller now as house chores and food shopping takes priority ???? we also love playing with our cat waffle and going to the cinema”

If you could give younger you one piece of advice, what would you say?

“Invest some money because houses ain’t cheap to run I can tell you that”

What’s your favourite way to spend down time?

“The occasional run (once a month) and rinsing Netflix, also cooking and baking”

What is your biggest pet peeve?

“Middle lane drivers a.k.a my girlfiend and people who announce football transfers before they have even happened, just let the club announce it”

You find a lottery ticket to win £10 million. What would you do?

“Have a lovely deposit on our next house and have some fancy holidays”

If you had to be shipwrecked on a deserted island, but all your human needs—such as food and water—were taken care of, what two items would you want to have with you?

“A flair gun and a boat, I’m getting off that island”

If you had a talk show, who would you invite on?

“Patrick Bauer, so he can talk me through that 94th minute goal at Wembley”
